Membership
Benefits of Membership
Membership in the Spanish Peaks Cycling Association is open to all cyclists who submit a membership application, sign a waiver, and pay a small fee to cover insurance and other costs. It's cheap, it's fun, and the t-shirts are pretty cool.
By becoming a member of the Spanish Peaks Cycling Association, you are eligible to participate in club rides and social events, and are covered by club insurance during those activities. Plus, you are helping to promote cycling and fitness in our local area.
Membership is open to all – road bikers, mountain bikers, towny bikers, family, friends, cross bikers, recreational bikers and non-cyclists. We communicate mostly by e-mail with invitations for local rides, packet stuffing, meetings, or gatherings.
Cost
- Individual membership, $5 per year
- Family membership, $12 per year
- T-shirt(s), $15 each (while they last)

Club Activities
-
Adopt-a-Highway Litter Control
Spanish Peaks Cycling cleans up litter at least twice each year along Highway 12, from mile markers 13, at the entrance to the the beautiful Cuchara Valley. We usually go for a ride, then clean up litter, then have a picnic. It's a fun way to serve our local community.
-
Towny Bikes
Spanish Peaks Cycling maintains the Towny Bikes which can be checked out for free from the La Veta Public Library at 310 S. Main Street. Visitors and locals are regularly seen pedaling these classic style bikes along our paved and dirt streets.
-
Bike Racks
In 2008, we purchased a new bike rack for the Library, to accommodate the Towny Bikes with their 26-inch wheels. Thanks to everyone who helped us raise money for a good cause – bike racks!
-
Club Rides
Club rides in 2009 will be impromptu rides by e-mail invitation. Join the cycling club to receive news of local rides, or to invite others to join you on a local road some fine morning.
-
Stonewall Century
Spanish Peaks Cycling is the proud organizer of the Stonewall Century Ride. We gather several times during the summer to mail brochures, fold t-shirts, and stuff packets. On the day of the event, some of our members ride while some work at support. Either way, we all have a great time promoting tourism, cycling, and fitness in our little valley.
-
